Before you go down to the painting session, make sure you don’t hold raw plans. This project requires good planner and of course supporting materials. You have to prepare for those things first. Simply use dark brown paint, stippling brush, and water or mineral spirits.
For the first steps, you have to create a marbling effect first. If the paint is oil-based already, you don’t have to thinning it. You can then go directly create the larger and smaller veins of the marble using stippling brush. After that, the still-wet larger and smaller veins should be blended together using soft-bristled, large brush.
Second steps, start stenciling on the face of your cabinets. You can purchase it precut at craft or hobby stores. Use the stencil to the cabinet and hold it in place using artist’s masking tape. You can then stipple the stencil using a brush or sponge. Voila, now you can remove the stencil sheet and let the paint dry with air.
In third steps, you can give your cabinets an antique look using a crackling paint. You can also use a glaze. But remember when you want to use glaze, you have to apply a coat or two on the surface. Once the first glaze is dry, the color topcoat should be applied then at that time the crackling effect will occur in no time.
