Crown molding is able to make the joint of ceiling and wall looks beautiful and sleek. It is often white colored or neutral colored in order to fit many shades of color. Well, when applying crown molding, sometimes you will need to cut it. Instead of hiring pros for doing the job which will cost you even more; it will be better for doing by yourself. When seeing the cutting activity, it looks kind of hard, and for inexperienced people it will be hard. But with some good directions we can surely learn how to do DIY crown molding’s cut.
Measuring and marking
This is important since you will need to know where the line of the molding which should be cut. After done measuring as well as marking where you should cut the molding, now you can get the molding placed on the miter saw. Get the molding set on the saw so that the molding’s top will rest against the saw’s table. The table’s bottom should rest against the saw’s table. The molding’s bottom should rest against the saw’s fence table. You should make the molding looks as it’s installed on the wall.
Completing the project
Now you should get the miter saw set for a 45 degree of angle. Get the molding held in place while cutting it 45 degree angle. Next, get the front or leading edge marked using a pencil. By doing this we will be able to know the place we should cut. Use coping saw for doing this. Get the coping saw blade held at about 5 degree. After that you can start cutting the moldings back along the highlighted line of the pencil. Next, get the crown molding placed in the place on the wall for ensuring that it will fit into the molding’s other side. Get it secured by nailing it in the place.
