Having a record shelf for music lovers is needed. Certainly you don't want your music records to get thrown away around your room. Record shelves are very helpful to keep your album collection in place and prevent it from warping. Using standard bookshelves for record album is inappropriate because they have different sizes. You can make your own record album instead of forcing using your standard bookshelves for keeping the records.
The first thing you need to do to make record shelves is to cut two boards 24 inches long and two boards 14 inches long from 1-by-12-inch boards. Put wood glue on the ends of the two 14-inch boards. Put the two 24-inch boards on a flat work surface perpendicular to each other. Put the 14-inch boards between them flush with the ends to form a rectangle. Use a large band clamp to strap the shelf together and allow it to dry overnight. Insert screws by drilling two pilot holes on each side and two more holes in the bottom of the bookcase up into the records shelf sides. Sand the shard wood edges lightly, prime and paint the shelves. Make the second unit and stack it on top.
To make sure that your record shelves are really secured, screw them through the top boards as well as the bottom although it will show the head of the screws. If you stack two or more units, always use screws on top and the bottom because albums are heavy. If the albums don't\ fill the shelf, use a bookend to keep it vertical. Make the back of your record from a piece of hard board cut to fit the outside dimensions of the record shelf and install it with finishing nails. Use thicker wood to make longer shelves to hold well the weight of the records. So, consider these tips to get your project finished properly.
