How to Soundproof A Movable Wall Door

Sometimes you feel very uncomfortable with the situation inside or outside your house because of some irritating noise. It can be the loud music, neighbor’s dogs, or the traffic outside your house. Providing some sound proofing is the best way to minimize the noise and here, I will try to explain how to soundproof a door. It will be very useful for you who live in a crowded place or to avoid your neighbor feeling inconvenient when you are having a party or practicing some music instrument.

First step on how to soundproof a door is by changing the door. If you are living in an apartment and you are not allowed to change it, you can get a permission to change the door when you are there and place the original door back when you move out. You can change the door by choosing soundproof door which is available in the market. I recommend you to change the door with medium-density fiberboard one. It is fairly good to soundproof the noise from inside or outside, and moreover, it is not expensive. Then you need to seal every hole or space of the door, such as using a metal door sweep for the bottom of the door, foam seals on the doorjambs, and other possible space. The next step is attaching a doormat on the door. It will work well since doormat, as we know, is a good material to absorb the noise. It will also possible to attach doormat around the wall, but of course it needs more budget and also effort since the size you need is much larger than for the door.

In blocking the noise, you can also use sound proofing caulks to fill the space of the door. You may also place two doors from the same doorjambs to make sound proofing doors through the dead space. Those are the step on how to soundproof a door, and I hope that will give you a little help.
