The first thing you need to do is locating the cracks and holes in the basement walls around each window. Put in your gloves and mask and inspect some cracks in brick or cement structure that can cause as much of the leaking problem. To repair the leaky basement window wells, enlarge each of them to make them big enough to be filled and patched with cement. Use hand sledge and chisel to fill the cracks carefully. Loosen any small pieces of cement by scrubbing the areas with water and a wire brush, and then remove the dust created by hammering away the cement. Fill the cracks with cement filler made of mixture of 41/2 parts cement and 1 part water in a smooth and creamy consistency. Use the mixture to fill each crack completely with a trowel. Let the cracks dry for about 15 minutes to set the filling. Not only filling and repairing the cracks, you also need to install the well duct by drilling a hole directly under the window sill leaving a few inches between the bottom of the sill and the hole. You are allowed to create your own well duct system to help you drain any water directly back to the outside of your home.
