First step of how to recaulk a bathtub is to remove the old caulk. Use a knife to remove the caulk, or you can apply caulk softener to it first at least two hours before removing. To complete this first step, before applying a new caulk you need to fill the bathtub with water to check whether the seal is strongest. Next step is applying the new caulk. Use caulk gun to apply it. Load white silicon in it and cut the tip. Start applying on the short walls fist. Carefully pull the gun in the opposite direction of the way the tip is pointing. Keep constant pressure on the trigger to avoid excess caulk for some place. Don’t stop until you reach the end of the way, but also don’t continue pulling as you reach the corner to avoid pooling. After this applying step has been finished, you can run a wet finger along the silicone make it smooth. The last step is removing tape after drying. Before remove the tap, first ensure that the caulk has been dry.
