The subway tile in your bathroom or kitchen sometimes need to be upgraded. Upgrading subway tile doesn't mean you have to install a new one. Simply paint over your old subway tile can work well. Painting subway tiles can be east as long as you have the tools and the right paint in a color that coordinates with other room decor.
To paint over your old subway tiles, spray them thoroughly with a degreasing spray and wipe each of them carefully with cleaning cloth. After that, fill a bucket with warm water and add two squirts of dishwashing detergent. Use it to wash the tiles, rinse them with plain water and dry them with a soft cloth. Wipe the surface of each tile with a saturated-isopropyl alcohol-paper towel and apply enamel surface conditioner to the surface of the tiles using paintbrush in a thin and even layer. Allow it to dry for about 15 minutes. After that, apply enamel paint using a paintbrush in careful strokes to outline the perimeter of the tile paint while staying away from the grouts of each tile. Fill the inside area with a thin and even layer of paint and repeat it with each tile, then allow it to dry for a day.
Apply the second coat of paint using the same technique and continue it with the third coat with each of them should be left a day to dry. Seal the paint by applying enamel gloss sealer with a paintbrush and allow it to dry for 24 hours. It will give a shiny appearance to the tiles. The last, let the tiles to cure for about 10 days before cleaning.
