Diamond tufted headboard can add elegance and style to your room décor. This stylish headboard can be costly if you buy it from retail stores, but make it your own can be cheaper. You can make your own headboard from simple materials and supplies to save on money.
Measuring is the first thing to do to make your own headboard. Measure the width at the head of the mattress using a measuring tape and add 2 inches. Mark on the wall with a pencil behind the bed to reflect how high you wish the headboard to rise. Transfer the measurements of the headboard height and width on a craft paper first to create a template. Cut out the template and hold it up against the wall behind the bed. Now play with the design by adding archers or curves to the template and cut again the template.
Now your diamond tufted headboard can be made using a piece of plywood cut based on the template. Sand the rough edges with sandpaper. Cut padding with the same measurement and edges with the plywood. Spray foam adhesive foam onto the headboard and place the cut foam padding on the top of the plywood. Press it down to create strong adhesion. After that, place foam batting of the same size of the upholstery on top of the fabric. Make sure that the fabric has an extra 12 inches around all four sides. Staple the fabric and batting onto the headboard and trim the excess material.
Now measure the locations for the buttons and mark the locations with small pen dots. Staple the marked locations to create button indentations and add a dot of fabric glue in each staple indentation, then push the buttons into the glue. Making your own diamond tufted headboard is quite easy. You just need to add your specifications to make it your own.
