Soap scum usually build up on many parts of the bathroom. It can be on the doors, tiles, walls, or shower drain. Soap scum is a kind of residue which comes from the soap itself, dead skin, and dirt which accumulated every time you are taking shower. Cleaning the soap scum is not so difficult if you know the right materials neede and steps applied. Let’s see the following steps how to clean soap scum effectively.
First is cleaning soap scum using vinegar. Pour vinegar into spray bottle and then spray it to the soap scum. Let it sit for a while, about 3 to 5 minutes, and after it you can wipe it using damp rag which has been sprinkled by baking soda. The combination will break up the soap scum so that it will be easily removed and make the tile, door, or drain clean again. If the scum is too tough, you can repeat the steps for some times until the scum is thoroughly vanished.
The second way how to clean soap scum is using ammonia. If you decide to use this liquid, you should be careful and do not forget to wear a pair of gloves, latex or plastic, before starting to apply this method. It is done to protect your skin since ammonia is a kind of chemical which is pretty harm if you apply it inappropriately. The step begin by mixturing ammonia and water in a spray bottle. The portion of ammonia is one-third and the rest is water. Spray onto the tough soap scum and let it stand for several minutes. After it, flow the ammonia away with water and make sure there washed it all away.
Using vinegar, however, is safer than using ammonia. But, ammonia has power to wash the tough soap scum away more effectively. Always take more attention if you decide to use ammonia as your soap scum “washer”.
